Full Body Liposuction

What is Full Body Liposuction?

Full body liposuction is a surgery that removes excessive fat from different parts of your body. However, this surgery does not reduce the weight of a person. Since full body liposuction removes more fat when compared to liposuction on a specific area, this is also termed as Large Volume Liposuction.

What are the Areas of Fat Removal?

By doing full body liposuction, you can remove excessive fat from the following areas all together in a single surgery: abdomen, neck, breast, buttocks, jowls, hips, flanks, knees, cheeks, thighs, upper arms and chin.

Types of Liposuction

Liposuction is generally performed in three different ways. They are listed below:

Dry Liposuction – Fat is removed through suction with the help of a metal tube. No fluid injection will be done. Hence there are chances of more bruising and bleeding.

Wet Liposuction – Combination of salt water, adrenaline and local anesthetic will be prepared as a fluid and this fluid will be injected into the fatty area of the patient so that it becomes easy to remove the fat. Swelling, bruising and bleeding will be less in this type of liposuction. If more quantity of fluid is injected then it is termed as tumescent liposuction.

Ultrasound Liposuction – If your body has more volume of fat or extremely dense fat then ultrasound waves are used to break the fat and then liposuction is performed to remove the broken fat easily.

How is Full Body Liposuction Performed?

Before surgery is performed, areas containing excessive fat will be identified and the volume of fat to be removed from each of the area will be decided upon.

Then on the day of surgery, local anesthesia will be given to the patient and the fluid as discussed in wet liposuction method will be injected in the identified areas.

If any area has dense fat then ultrasound waves are emitted using a special cannula to rupture and liquefy the fat. Then the fat will be carefully suctioned from each of the area using cannula incisions. The total volume being removed is ensured to be less than 5L.

What happens after Full Body Liposuction Surgery?

After the surgery gets over, the surgeon will strap the surgery performed areas with bandages. You will be asked to wear a garment specially designed with elasticity. This garment and the bandages will reduce the pain and swelling.

The surgeon will also prescribe painkillers that relieve your pain and anesthesia discomfort. You have to take extreme care of yourselves for next few months and then you can see the good body contour that you expected.
